Helaas scoort hij deze keer op het vlak van structuur iets minder: The Light Between Oceans neemt een lange aanloop en wanneer we op driekwart van het verhaal aankomen, verloopt het drama ineens veel te plaatjes, mooi spelMaar daartegenover staan het sterke acteerspel van Fassbender en Vikander, pittoreske locaties, prachtig camerawerk en schitterende, romantische muziek. De ultieme film om bij weg te zwijmelen dus. Én schaamteloos bij mee te huilen (geeft niets, lucht soms lekker op). Leuk romantisch detail btw: Vikander en Fassbender werden tijdens de opnames verliefd en zijn nog altijd een setje.
